SYDNEY SHADECK-TRIOLA'S
PORTFOLIO
JUMP TO...
My work is an ode to noticing. It is devoting attention to everyday scenes and creating small moments of vibrant joy within that. My practice is allowing the high-sensory perspective I hold to be fully explored and conveyed, largely through rich textural mediums such as oil pastel and textiles. As in my work before identifying as an artist in a professional sense, my art continues to research the relationships between people and places on varying scales, always wondering about the ideas of belonging, comfort, joy and home. I often play with classic American quilt patterns to and use ethically sourced materials to design and create bright, clean textile works that harmonize with my saturated impressionistic oil pastel pieces.
TEXTILES
QUILTS
Using ethically sourced materials to create handmade, one-of-a kind quilts. Many designs are self-drafted, most incorporate traditional American patterns in some way.

SMALLER TEXTILE WORKS
Wall hangings, pillow covers, various other experiments.

OIL PASTELS
INDEPENDENT SERIES
Impressionist oil pastel paintings from reference photos I've taken.

COMMISSIONS & COLLABORATIONS
SRST x KILL SYMBOLS: ALBUM ART COLLABORATION
Worked with Kill Symbols (Jake Triola) to carryout a long-term project creating art for weekly releases of songs he had written and recorded. He would use public access archival footage to create a music video to accompany the song, and I would find a still from the footage used to paint. All pieces have the title of the songs they were made for.
